Look for the Truth in All Things

A place exists
One of incredible beauty
Where the Cherry Blossoms bloom
And majestic mountains
Are shrouded in white mist
Deep green valleys
And winding rivers
Wearing a soft silk blue Kimono
Her lustrous black hair whipping in the frenzied wind
She clutches a chilled body
It’s a gray and cool day
A keen sense of loss permeating the air
The earth is rotating still but here,
Order and harmony are a thing of the past
Gone is the quiet and serenity of just a few days ago
Dotting the hillside, here and there,
Tiny lanterns from nearby huts
Are lit
It’s comforting, somehow
To see their soft glow
She watches for a short time and then
Lowers her eyes
The limp body she was so tenaciously holding
Sinks beneath the water
She looks at her perfect reflection,
Staring back at her
Slowly her finger gently grazes the surface
And a myriad of tiny little ripples appear
Her reflection is distorted now
Just like her once vibrant country
We humans have a hard time
Grasping why tragic things happen
Every once in a while
We are able to discern His Essence
His Presence...
Many times, during periods of deep crisis,
For this is when we choose to come nearer to Him
This is when He hears our cries
Have no fear
For I am near
A tiny song bird is perched nearby
But it can no longer sing
It has lost its song
Its heart is broken
Tears of sorrow and compassion
Well up in her eyes
She can actually sense the little birds
Mood
Its heartbeat and the trepidation it feels
As it tenaciously clings to its brittle branch
The only anchor it has left
She remembers shattered glass
Jagged and broken
Shredded pieces of debris
Loud shouts and cries of fear
Infants, young and old
Flailed about like rag dolls
A monstrous wave drowning out their cries
A ravaged and sullen landscape
Shuddering now,
She cannot move as she is transfixed
Continuing to stare at the ripples
She created in the pool
Slowly, her distorted reflection
Becomes clearer as the ripples fade away
But doubts still remain
She cannot trust the ground on which she stands
Nor the air she breathes
Nor the food she once ate
She lifts up her head and distraught,
Lets the rain fall upon her face
She is so alone
A dull and thick silence has enveloped everything
Around her
Thousands have perished
She lets the tears come but this time
No hand reaches up to dry them
Instead they roll down her face
Like a cascading waterfall
Becoming a torrent
Time has stopped
Her heart cries out
But no one hears
Her people
Have been through a Crucible of Terror
Heat and fire
A Monstrous wave
Ugliness and Chaos
Confusion and
Death
But even after all of this,
They managed to regain
Their strength of Purpose
Their Resolve
Their Steadfastness
Their Togetherness
They put aside their own
Well-being and safety in order to save others
And continue to look for the Truth as to why this all happened
Continuing to gather their strength and courage
They face the daunting task of putting their lives and their country
Back together again
They have overcome disaster before
Together, in pain, they are forged into one body
All along they pray for Guidance
For Understanding
Just like their brethren across the sea,
After September 11th hit
All heroes
