America You Stumbled, But All Is Not Lost

Suddenly the loud din of voices quickly subsided as all eyes were drawn to a white mist, as a ghostly apparition inexplicably started to take shape in a corner of the small room. It was an old gentleman, emerging slowly from the darkened shadows, sitting in a very worn and old high back chair. The chair was muted in color, faded pale yellow and dusky pink roses marking the arms and back. His hair was shoulder length and of a dull blackish silver, like an old coin that had been turned over and over between one's fingers. The soft folds of his blouse showed beneath his stubbled chin. His eyes were of an intense blue like that of the sailor's sea. There was an eerie feeling of electricity in the air as the gathering knew that the apparition was there to speak. Not one sound was heard. Straightening himself, he slowly rose with the help of an exquisitely turned beechwood cane. His eyes surveyed the crowd that now surrounded him. He steadied himself. His voice penetrated the air like a razor sharp knife, his words stinging, yet resonating deep within the hearts of all who were listening. "The people elected a tyrant. What pains me to the core, even more, is they did it willingly. To have come this far, in this fine Republic, to have seen with my own eyes, the many sacrifices that were laid down, from Her Beginning, by the most Honorable of Them, and then to have those all swept away, is something unfathomable. What foolhardiness, unwise, imprudent, and thoughtlessness, prompted those citizenry to throw caution asunder, in favor of emotional self-delusion that has now brought utter folly to their nation? Have they lost their wits? Have they lost their honor? Have they lost their virtue? Have they no shame? Or are these irreplaceables those things that have been derelict in not being taught from one generation to another all these years? To all I must now say, what has been done cannot be undone. The fate of the people is now sealed, for a time. I must grievously and sorely counsel that this will be an intolerable time of hardship for this Republic. I having lived and traveled extensively in many countries need to remind you of their bitter experiences. They in advance knew what lay ahead, yet with despotic governments at their very doorsteps, they resisted those tyrants who would wrestle those liberties from them. They sacrificed their very lives to defend them. But you?? You embraced the Despot, the Tyrant. You surrendered to the Sycophant and in so doing, tainted your very souls and despoiled your country. He wailed his siren song and you swooned by the millions. I remember all to well, in my travels abroad, casting my eyes downward at the tattered bodies of those patriots, lying in crumpled heaps on scorched, sacred, bloodied and hallowed grounds. Breathing in the odiferous, pungent stench of death that one can never shake off his boot. The sweet fragrant smell of flowers that now covers them all, the only remembrance of their sacrifices, yet for a few stone monuments placed here and there by those generations that still remember. And I, and the Lord God Almighty, who visit yet eternal. Yet their homelands today stand free and strong. As the brutual, conquering hordes drove them into small bands, they did not yield, they did not crumble, they did not waiver, but with one voice and one resolve, they stood their ground and fought for what was theirs -- their God given right to Liberty and Life and the Pursuit of Happiness. These laws are not regulated by any Government but are freely given by God Almighty to all mankind. This is why the Framers of the Constitution put so many safeguards into place so that the usurpation of powers by the Federal Government could not take place which amounts to Tyranny which, sadly, you just allowed to happen. This is why I am here today, speaking with you. I am one of those who signed that document so many years ago. I have been watching the events unfolding here on your soil. The calamitous proceedings taking place as the people continue to lose their freedoms. Please note this very well. Evil, once it takes hold, is very hard to dislodge. Its tentacles run deep. I know all too well that you are facing evil in the form of a tyrannical takeover of your constitutional republican form of government. Evil can be very deceptive. It can be candy-coated, disguise itself in different forms, be very seductive, come in different colors and flavors, and it preys on the weak, the careless, the young, the infirm, the ignorant, the naive, the illiterate, the old... He glanced upward...I see that my my time is growing short. I am glad I had this opportunity to speak with you today and hope you will ponder the meaning of the words I just spoke. He smiled. I see from the look on some faces that some of you have already caught on. Ahhh, now I can return to whence I came knowing that perhaps my time was well spent and not in vain. My Dear Friends I leave you now, to ponder well. In Liberty..."
