If Mankind Were a Melody

If mankind were a melody How would we play out? Would we be a symphony or a dark and bloody, tumultous rout? G-d patiently watches and waits and gives us the time to get ourselves straight But once in a while His patience wears thin No more will He listen, It's time "for a trim" Now it's down to business and it ain't gonna be.. a joyride, a hayride, for "brats on a spree" He'll lower the hammer We'll abide by His rule, Now all of mankind will be total home-schooled He loaned us the time to get our act together, but we just continued to stir up more stormy weather He pulled on our heart strings, He tousled our hair, He whispered His message but kept getting nowhere We kept fiddling away We beat the bass drum Rap, Heavy Metal What a Conundrum! With solemn eyes now He surveys His Creation All is Well except for the Human Equation Its harmonica broken a long time ago He's now waiting to see if we'll mend it by sew But cruelty, madness are the rage of the day, they surround us, engulf us, we're caught up in their fray So how long do we continue on this Path of Destruction? Until we do something the Almighty's forbidden? Haven't we already? This Ship of Fools is sinking fast into deep sea, G-d is going to exact a fee Then He steps in and rights the course we have failed to do, All is coming quite unglued Why is it we can't with both eyes see? He made us All, We're One Big Family, But it's plain to see some are just not content with learning G-d's basic rudimentaries
